New batch of updates

April 20th, 2009 Choder No comments

A lot has been, and will continue to be going on.

  • BeerWars was a great time, except it was missing a personal tap on each theater seat and free samples
  • Magic Hat brewery was pretty cool and one of the more entertaining brewery tours, though not necessarily the most informative as far as the brewing process. Pics are also up.
  • Rock Art Brewery’s Vermonster is one of the greatest beers you can’t find
  • Vermont has a ton of great beers that are way too easily obtained for a beersnob
  • We need a headcount for the trip to Dogfish Head! So email Ryan if you’re interested, and if you want to bunk up with anyone or get your own room. See the related post to find out more

Exit 4

April 12th, 2009 Brewmaster Ryan No comments

The first of the Flying Fish Exit Series, it’s a heady, Belgian trippel blended with the right amount of American hops. Has a good, balanced flavor; it’s sweet with the right balance of hoppy bitterness that goes down real quick, real easy. Highly recommneded, so go pick one up.

Upcoming Events

April 4th, 2009 Choder No comments

Two going-ons coming up:

First, we’re heading to Cricket Hill this coming Friday, April 10th, since the rumor has it they have 16 barrels they need people to drink. What it comes down to is that it is a matter of utmost importance to support our local craft Brewers, so show up in force.

And while you’re showing up in force, get your tickets for Beer Wars!, playing at a bunch of theaters around country Thursday, April 16th. It’s unfortunately hosted by Ben Stein, but it’s the tale of some of the best craft brewers and their efforts to fight the big guys, and how the big guys are trying to disguise crap as craft.

Bitter Twitter Hops

March 25th, 2009 Choder No comments

Brewtopia has moved into the 21st century and now has a twitter feed so you can find out just how infrequently this site is updated.

Also, the forum works and reactivation emails were sent out to everyone.

Even better, the website works. For now. Maybe we can go more than a few months without a major outage

Dogfish Head Brew Tour

Title: Dogfish Head Brew Tour
Location: Rehoboth Beach, DE
Link out: Click here
Description: Trip to Dogfish Head Brewery & Eatery
Start Date: 2009-05-15
End Date: 2009-05-17

The Skinny: The brewery is located in DE, but it is more than just a standard brewery and brew tour. They have a restaurant attached where they serve a bunch of good food paired with beer. Of course a ton of their beers are on draft and by bottle. They are located in the Rehoboth Beach area of DE, which is supposed to be a relaxing spot. I figured we will drive down on Friday afternoon/night. Saturday we can walk around the beach area and stop in some local spots for some food and drink. Hitting up the Dogfish Head brewery for a tour on Saturday and getting dinner and drinking ourselves retarded Saturday night until we close the place out. Sunday we can get up, have lunch to cure the hangover and then head back home. A fun, affordable weekend and great way to kick off the summer! Stop by the forum or contact Ryan or Choder if you’re interested in going
